NAFTA, established in 1994, provides for the gradual reduction of both tariff and non-tariff boundaries over a 10-year period between Canada, Mexico and the United States for those goods that originate within the territory. The ability to take advantage of the treaty requires companies to substantiate that their products meet the complicated NAFTA rules of origin and are accompanied by a proper NAFTA certificate of origin in order to take advantage of the preferential treatment. The rules and documentation requirements are complex and strictly enforced by the member states at the time of importation as well as through periodic compliance assessments.

You will be able to obtain the required information more quickly as vendors are likely to respond to your request more quickly if they need only key the information into a form via the web rather than fill out a paper form and mail or fax it to you.
